David D. Aughtry is partner in the Atlanta office of Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where his practice concentrates on civil and criminal tax litigation. Before entering private practice, he served as a trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service, where he also served as a tax shelter coordinator. He has tried or argued on appeal over 70 tax cases and is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading authorities on tax litigation. Mr. Aughtry has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law and was recently selected as a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. He received his B.A. from The Citadel, his M.A. in accounting and J.D. from the University of South Carolina, and his LL.M. in taxation from Emory University School of Law.
